Ning Haoxiang

Ning Haoxiang grew up in a family with medical background. This made him more sensitive about life and death and inspired him to make the “X-portraits” serie.

He believes that the beauty of life doesn’t lay in the flesh or to die bravely, but it is the ability to survive or regenerate itself. At the start he organized these patients to have X-rays taken from them and then used his own interpretation to worship the beauty of their excistence. By painting them he made their lives immortal.

After moving to Beijing in 2007 Ning Haoxiang made the serie “Hidden Life”. The way of life in this metropole is his inspiration for this serie. He experienced the people partying together in bars, clubs and disco’s. To him they were all dressed up in similar black, white and grey clothes, with similar facial expressions, but at the same time all alone, all having their own dreams.
