Chen Mei

In the series "stillness" we see desolated streets and landscapes. You can feel the silence; it can be gone in a split of a second.

The artist wants to express her desire of peace and rest in a busy city. Nowadays this is very rare in Beijing. By using the gray tones the silence is emphasised the more.

In the series "Stone Lions" lions on bridges are placed against a context of a modern and upcoming urbanisation of Beijing. Will the skyscrapers be stronger than the lions?

Biography

Born in 1981 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China.

2002 Educated at Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Chongqing 2004 Educated at Central Academy of Fine Art, Beijing
