Cara Yuan collects all sorts of dead pieces from nature, like dead flowers, branches or pieces wood washed ashore. She recognizes splendid lines and colors and dynamic forms in there. That is her infinite inspiration. Decline becomes a life again.
She is always in search of beauty and harmony, in her work and also in her life By using Chinese ink and paint on paper one can sense subtly her Chinese origin.
In China she studied Fashion Design in Hangzhou and English in Beijing. In 1998 she came to the Netherlands and in 2000 she graduated at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (AHK).
Since 2000 she lives and works in Alphen aan den Rijn, The Netherlands as an artist, and also teaches Chinese calligraphy, abstract painting and photography.
